Adult Spiritual Formation

Sunday Mornings

We also seek to provide opportunities for adults to learn and grow in an atmosphere that permits them to ask questions and express doubts without feeling judged. The settings are varied: Bible studies, prayer and support groups, Sunday morning classes, but the goals are similar: to grow in faith and community – and have fun together.

Sisters of the Way

9:15-10:45AM every Thursday from September to June.
Women of all ages dig into scriptures which will be preached. Childcare is available.

The Forum

The Forum is FPC Pottstown’s opportunity for adults to grow deeper in faith and learn about our greater Pottstown area community and mission partners from next door to around the world.

The Forum Class meets Sunday mornings at 9:15AM in the Community Room.

Men’s Sunday Morning Class

The Men’s Sunday Morning Class meets each week in the Mary Ann Yost Room at 9:15AM and works its way through a book in the Bible, applying the lessons learned to daily living.

Lectio Divina

Lectio Divina, meaning “divine reading” in Latin, is an ancient Christian practice of prayerfully reading scripture slowly to listen for God’s voice. It involves four stages: lectio (reading a passage slowly), meditatio (reflecting on a word or phrase), oratio (responding in prayer), and contemplatio (resting in God’s presence).

7:30PM on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, October-June. This meditation circle meets on Zoom or in the Mary Ann Yost Room (check church calendar for location) and reflects on the Scriptures.

Labyrinth

“Thus says the Lord: stand at the crossroads, and look and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; walk in it, and find rest for your souls.” -Jeremiah 6:6

Given in memory of beloved Clerk of Session Ron Gower by his family, the beautiful prayer path is a gift not only to the church family, but also to our neighborhood and the Pottstown community. Individuals and church groups of all ages, as well as groups of students from the Pottstown schools and guests at our Community Meals, have drawn close to God in this peaceful setting as they practice this ancient way of meditation.
